Château Barayre

Nestled in the Southern French countryside, Château Barayre is a stunning 12th-century eco-friendly castle that will host all our wedding weekend events. Its historic charm and beautiful surroundings make it the perfect place to celebrate. Where to Stay for the Wedding Weekend

Accommodation in Monpazier

After spending time exploring the nearby towns this summer, we found Monpazier to be the perfect place for our guests to stay during the wedding weekend. Just 14 km from Château Barayre, Monpazier is a beautiful bastide town filled with charming shops, cafés, and restaurants to enjoy. If you plan to book accommodation in Monpazier let them know you are staying for the Jönsson wedding.

The Château Hotel Edward I is located in the heart of Monpazier and offers a magnificent view over the hills of the Dordogne countryside.

Hotel Le Chevalier Bleu is located just a stone's throw from the center of Monpazier. The oldest part of the hotel dates to the construction of Monpazier in 1284. The hotel has totally been renovated and restored.&nbsp;

WALKING DISTANCE ACCOMMODATION 

A handful of charming gîtes are just a stroll away from Château Barayre, offering a comfortable and convenient stay near the celebrations. When enquiring, please mention that you’ll be attending the wedding at Château Barayre.

Manoir d’Auzolles is a former 18th-century farmhouse with three charming gîtes that can host up to 13 guests in total. Two of the cottages sleep 5–6 people each, while a smaller, separate building accommodates 2. Located just 300 meters from Château Barayre, it’s a lovely countryside stay within easy walking distance of the celebrations.

Manoir d'Auzolles

Only 300 meters from the château, this beautiful property offers two adjoining gîtes nestled within eight hectares of private parkland. The larger gîte accommodates 7 guests, and the smaller one 4, offering flexibility for one large group or individual parties wishing to stay nearby.

Relais des 3 Bastides

About 1.3 km from Château Barayre, this charming gîte is set on an organic fruit farm in a serene, rural setting. Sleeping up to 4 guests, it’s ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature, with nearby villages and scenic trails to explore.

Getting to Chateau Barayre

Nearest airport is Bergerac at a 30 minutes drive. This is a smaller airport, here you can check their <a href="https://www.bergerac.aeroport.fr/en/destinations/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">destinations</a>. From Bergerac you can <a href="https://www.bergerac.aeroport.fr/en/car-rental/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">rent a car</a>, <a href="https://www.bergerac.aeroport.fr/en/taxis/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">take a taxi</a>, or if coming with a bigger group, <a href="https://www.cars-evasion.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">rent a van</a>. Renting a van is usually is usually the most economical option if you arrive with more than 10 guests at the same time. Both Bordeaux and Toulouse are international airports that are a 2 hour drive away. They have continental and intercontinental flights. Other, even bigger airports are those of Paris Charles de Gaulle and Barcelona (5 hours). If you arrive at Bordeaux or Toulouse airport you can take a taxi (count on 110-250€ for one way), rent a car or <a href="https://www.cars-evasion.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">rent a van</a> if arriving with more than 8 people. If arriving in Paris you can take the high speed train to Bordeaux (2h) or Agen (3,5h). Arrive at the castle by taxi or van. As it is a smaller city and station, travelling to Agen will give you the most comfortable and economical trip.

Arriving by plane

Nearest TGV stations are:- Agen: 45 minute drive to the chateau- Bordeaux: 2 hour drive to the chateau TGV travel time to Bordeaux from the north:- Paris: 2 hours on train- Brussels: 3.5 hours on train- London: 5 hours on train- Rotterdam: 5 hours on train TGV travel time to Agen from the north:- Paris: 3 hours on train- Brussels: 4.5 hours on train- London: 6 hours on train- Rotterdam: 6 hours on train TGV travel time to Agen from the south:- Toulouse: 1 hour on train- Marseille: 5 hours on train- Barcelona: 5 hours on train From the station take a taxi or van. If more than 8 people, a van is usually the most easy and economical option.Our go-to for renting a van is <a href="https://www.cars-evasion.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Cars Evasion</a>. Mention you’re going to Château Barayre and they’ll know where to go :)

Arriving by high speed train (TGV)

It’s possible to get even closer to the castle by taking the TER regional train. From Bordeaux take the TER regional train to Bergerac which will take about 1h15 for about 15€. Then take a <a href="https://www.taxiroman-monflanquin.fr/particuliers" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">taxi</a> (20€) to cover the last few kilometers or take a lift using the <a href="https://www.blablacar.fr/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">BlaBla Car</a> app. From Agen take the TER regional train to Monsempron-Libos which will take about 1h15 for about 15€. Then take a <a href="https://www.taxiroman-monflanquin.fr/particuliers" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">taxi</a> (35€) to cover the last few kilometers of find a lift using the <a href="https://www.blablacar.fr/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">BlaBla Car</a> app.

Arriving by regional train (TER)

Travel

Fun hats and head pieces are encouraged. No white dresses.

Formal – long dresses and suits encouraged. Tuxedos not required. No sage green or white.

Dress Code

Q: What should I wear?A: Each event has its own dress code! Please check the Home and Dress Code tab for attire suggestions for each day—from casual poolside to formal wear for the wedding. Q: Will all events take place at the same location?A: Yes! All wedding weekend events will be held at Château Barayre in Envals (Laussou). You'll never be far from the fun. Q: Will the ceremony be outdoors?A: Yes, weather permitting. Please wear shoes suitable for walking on grass. Q: What meals will be provided?A: We’ll keep you well-fed! Meals are included at all main events—Friday’s pizza party, Saturday brunch, poolside lunch (if you decide to stay for the pool party), the rehearsal dinner, and Sunday we will have snacks throughout the day, the wedding dinner and a late night snack. Q: Do I need to RSVP for each event?A: Yes, please! Let us know which events you’ll be attending when you RSVP so we can plan accordingly. All events are optional besides the wedding day of course. Q: Can I give a speech at the wedding?A: If you'd like to say a few words during the wedding celebrations, please reach out to Ava (our Toast Madame) in advance. Q: Where can I park?A: There is a church right next door with a parking lot all guests will park in for all events throughout the weekend.

After brunch at the château, the early afternoon is yours to enjoy before we gather again for the wine tasting at 4:00 PM and the rehearsal dinner at 7:00 PM. We’ve planned a few optional activities to make the most of the day:

Golf OutingJoin a group for a round of golf at a nearby course. Market VisitExplore a local town and its weekend market. Poolside at the ChâteauStay at the château and spend the afternoon lounging by the pool, sipping something refreshing, and catching up with friends and family. There will be a place to select an activity when you RSVP.
